Weyerbacher – Double Simcoe IPA
Well, the honor is certainly all mine. Knoxbeersnobs Rob and Don have given me the honor of reviewing a few beers. It seems this time of year has us all a little busy. Not to worry, I am happy to help. First up is Weyerbacher’s Double Simcoe IPA.
It’s no secret that I am an IPA fiend, so naturally this was the first brew I grabbed from the recent pilgrimage to Bruisin’ Ales. In keeping with most IPA’s this one poured a slim, sticky head and filled the pint with a beautiful copper color. The Simcoe Hops give it a mild pine hint and very subtle pineapple/citrus notes. At 9% ABV, it was almost too subtle. Less complex than some, this one was pretty easy to drink, even at 9%.
I’m all for strong IPA’s and this one fit the bill. All in all, a smooth drink and a go-to for IPA fans.
