TORCH’s 1st Annual Brew Review: A Beer Tasting Fundraiser | Sept 12th 7-11pm

Torch

Howdy beer fans,

One of the things we don’t hear as much as we’d like to is “Oak Ridge” and “craft beer.” While there are a few spots in Oak Ridge we believe this may be the first craft beer focused event that the secret city has hosted (please sound off in the comments if we are incorrect). That said, this event supports a great cause to boot AND doesn’t interfere with college football being as it’s on Friday – WIN. That said, check out the press release below for details on the event, the cause and how to get tickets – which are a steal at $35.

Cheers!

TORCH’s 1st Annual Brew Review:  A Beer Tasting Fundraiser

Trinity Out-Reach Center for Hope (TORCH) is pleased to announce their new annual fundraiser, TORCH’s Brew Review, a one of a kind fundraiser in Oak Ridge.  The event will take place Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, from 7 to 11 pm, at the Historic Grove Theater located at 123 Randolph Rd. in Oak Ridge, TN.

The evening will include beer tasting, finger foods, silent auction, and live music.  Guests can mingle in the lobby with their food and beer, dance to live music in the auditorium, and bid on fantastic items in the silent auction.  The bands performing are The Portals, Pretty Prefect, Malibu Diamond, and Ridge City Ramblers.  Beer is being provided by Cheeroke Distributing, Alliance Brewing Co., Yazoo Brewing Co., and Downtown Brewery, with more breweries to be announced closer to the event.  Hard cider will also be available for those who cannot drink beer or would like to try something different.  The silent auction items include signed Lee Child and Tess Gerritsen books, UT corn hole set, gift cards, a Keurig Platnium K-Cup, gift baskets, pottery, a 2-night stay in Pigeon Forge, and many other exciting items.

Tickets to the event are $35 per person and include a souvenir tasting mug, beer, food, and admission.  Tickets can be purchased at www.oakridgetorch.org/events or at TORCH during their business hours.  You must be 21 or older to attend, and identification will be required at the door.  All proceeds from the event will be used to help the homeless population of Anderson Co.  Ticket sales are limited, so please plan to purchase your tickets soon!

TORCH is a non-profit in Oak Ridge that has been working with homeless and low-income individuals and families since July of 2012.  In 2013, TORCH served over 323 individuals, and 171 individuals were successfully housed, utilizing donated funds and grant monies. The programs at TORCH are aimed at giving homeless individuals tools to be successful on their journey toward self-sufficiency. TORCH operates a Literacy program, classroom tutoring for GED/High School Equivalency, SPARK Life Skills Classes, Life Coaching services, and employment help in addition to placing people in emergency housing and helping families secure permanent housing.
