Howdy Fellow Snobs,

Hard to believe it but the South College Professional Brewing Science program is graduating its first class! My how time flies. They have also created a scholarship program in memory of Curtis McArthur who was a rep at Sweetwater Brewing Company.

Details are in the press release below. Mark your calendars and check it out! Cheers!

South College Professional Brewing Science Program – Celebration of the First Graduating Class and Scholarship Fundraising Event

What: South College Professional Brewing Science Program Graduation Fundraising Celebration
When: Thursday, April 3, 2014
Location: Saw Works Brewing Company, 708 E. Depot St., Knoxville, TN
Time: 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Sponsor: Curtis McArthur Scholarship Foundation
Cost: $10/person for entry (proceeds going towards the Scholarship Fund)

Food and Beverages are available on a pay as you go basis and all proceeds go to the Scholarship Fund.

Everyone is invited to this event. The purpose of this celebration is twofold:

1) Salute our first graduating class, and

2) Raise funds for our newly-established Curtis McArthur Scholarship Fund, which benefits the students of the South College professional Brewing Science (PBS) Program. Saw Works Brewing Company, a great supporter of the PBS program, has generously donated their facility for this celebration and will also be providing access to their brew house for an inside look at brewing beer.

Samples of brewed product by the new PBS graduates will be provided—as long as they last.

Background Information: Curtis McArthur was the Tennessee representative for the Sweetwater Brewing Company, based in Atlanta, GA. Curtis was also from Maryville, TN. He died tragically on New Year’s Eve 2013 (last New Year’s Eve). Since then, the Curtis McArthur Foundation has been established, which the Curtis McArthur Scholarship Fund is part of.

This is a great opportunity to celebrate and support our inaugural PBS class, raise money for the scholarship fund, and generally have a good time.
