Highland Brewing Wolfgang 1756 Symphony Lager
Pretty neat connection with beer and the Asheville Amedeus Festival. We haven’t had a chance to try the beer yet but it’s definitely worth a round. Especially if you’re in AVL for the festival. Props to Highland for looking for different ways to celebrate both culture and beer. Hopefully we’ll see this in East Tennessee. Cheers!

Highland Brewing to Release New Beer in Partnership with
the Asheville Symphony Orchestra
ASHEVILLE, NC – The symphony and beer may not be an intuitive match, but this is Beer City and things are just a wee bit different. On March 14, Highland Brewing and the Asheville Symphony Orchestra (ASO) will release a new beer, Wolfgang 1756 Symphony Lager, in celebration of the upcoming Asheville Amadeus Festival.
The partnership developed easily during a meeting with ASO representatives and Highland. The beer release, along with a free public event and private reception at Highland will precede the week-long Asheville Amadeus Festival. The festival makes classical music accessible, with events in several locations including a church and a restaurant. The pinnacle event is a performance by legendary pianist Emanuel Ax – an honor and testament to Asheville’s international allure.
Crafted in honor of Mozart, Wolfgang 1756 is a classic Vienna-style lager. A wonderful session beer, Wolfgang 1756 is crisp and light-bodied – “the perfect pairing of beer and music.” It will be available on draft and in 22oz bottles at the brewery and in limited quantities in Highland’s distribution area.
This isn’t the first time that Highland Brewing and the ASO have come together. Several years ago when the Symphony was celebrating their 50th anniversary, Highland changed their iconic St. Terese’s Pale Ale label to include the ASO’s 50th anniversary logo. President Leah Wong Ashburn said, “We’re so glad that our beer can celebrate Asheville’s symphony again, especially for this landmark week in their history.”
The public release is at Highland Brewing on March 14, at 7pm. with Sirius.B playing live at no charge. Pints will be sold for $4.50, along with 22oz bottles to go. Individual ASO pint glasses and gift boxes containing two bottles and two glasses will be available, with net proceeds from the glassware donated to ASO.
Food trucks will be on site providing fresh local treats.
