Green Man Brewery | Expansion & Limited Release Sour!
Howdy beer fans,
Spring is in full force and summer is knocking on the door. It’s time for spring ales, summer lagers and, as I like to call ’em, dock beer! It’s also time for some vacations, road trips and a regular pilgrimage to see our friends in AVL. You’re in luck though, Asheville Beer Week is right around the corner – May 22-30th. I don’t believe you need any better reason to visit.
Just so happens to folks at Green Man Brewing have something up their sleeve, something funky. On May 24th @ 2pm, Green Man Brewery will release Maceo an Imperial Sour Brown Ale with Oregon Cherries, aged in Rum Barrels. The bottles will go on sale at 2 pm in the taproom at 23 Buxton Ave in Asheville, NC. This is a limited brewery only release – plan accordingly. Rate beer clocks this gentleman at 96 and Untappd gives it a 4.21.
But wait – there’s more!
As this is an official Asheville Beer Week event this isn’t just a bottle release. Green Man will be releasing some other funky surprises throughout the day. You never know what you might run across….or miss out on! Mark you calendars.
WAIT – there’s even more!
More news that is, Green Man Brewery is going through a $5 million dollar expansion two doors down from the original brewery. For those of you who have been in AVL lately, you’ve probably noticed the construction on the South Slope of downtown AVL. The production brewhouse was the first major expansion – 30 bbl setup added. This second project is slated to be open in Fall of 2015 and includes a packaging hall, a specialty brewhouse, a retail shop, and an indoor/outdoor rooftop beer garden. The barrel-aging facility will be moved same building as the original taproom, which will be a tasting room for barrel-aged sours and one-offs.
How cool is that? The “brewery district” has grown a lot in the last few years and this is a great addition.
Please join me in raising a glass to the fine folks at Green Man Brewing! We look forward to checking out your new space this fall!

Cheers!
