Founders Centennial IPA

Just got back from a weekend trip to Asheville, NC and what would a trip to A-Town be without a visit to Brusin Ales.  Knoxbeersnobs is a firm supporter to all local businesses but, until the day comes when the law is changed for the better involving a cap on beer ABV’s, I would suggest a visit to Brusin.  We will be doing a write up on this wonderful establishment shortly.

O.K. I am an IPA fiend, sometimes to a fault that I will not give other classes of beer a chance.  I brought this beauty back with me and had to dig into it right away.  I first discovered this brewery when I was in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA working on a chemistry analyzer in the hospital there.  There is a nice beer market down the road called Beverage World at 1840 Lafayette Road.  If you are down that way you need to head in there.  Anyway, I tried a few of Founders beers and was impressed.   I popped the top and was hit with a nice pine/ citrus and slight malt aroma.  The pour is orange in color with a white head that dissipated quickly.  With the ABV at 7.2% you still could not get past the immense centennial dry hopping that has been done to this tasty beverage.  The flavor was just all floral and spice, absolutely delicious.  Even with the hops you still get the perfect amount of malt sweetness for and IPA and a hint of pepper between each sip as the beer warms a bit.  Nice citrus aftertaste and the carbonation is perfect.

Final notes are to get this bad boy and grab more than one.  I am wishing that now.
