Hops for Hope 2012 – What a night!
Last night we kicked off an awesome evening at the Dancing Bear Lodge in Townsend to benefit New Hope. This has been my second year involved with this fundraiser and I must say while last year was great, what occurred last night was incredible. We could not have asked for better weather or a better crowd – what a blast.
First of all, I want to send a BIG thank you out the brewers who traveled from near and far to join us. Highland, Calfkiller Brewing Company, Depot Street, Olde Hickory Brewing, Chattanooga Brewing Company, Woodruff Brewing Company, Smoky Mountain Brewery and the Blount County Homebrewers – you guys are awesome and I can’t thank you enough for joining us and bringing not only your creative brews but your contagious brewing attitudes and enthusiasm. What’s great about an event this size is that you get to spend some great quality time with the brewers themselves as they aren’t having to constantly pull tap handles and deal with hordes of people.
Secondly, a big thank you to the volunteers who made this happen. There is a lot of planning that goes into these events and you guys rock. Setup, tear down, the trike races, hopshoes (horseshoes w/ toilet seats), silent auction – I can’t say enough, it’s your effort and enthusiasm that made all of this not only successful but a lot of fun. Also, a big thank you to our sponsors who stepped up to the plate – you guys are great and it was awesome to have you all there with us.
It’s nights like last night that really enforce why I love the craft beer community here in East Tennessee. Don and I have met some awesome people who we love to continue to see, swap stories and share beer. It’s also great to meet new friends like we did last night who share our passion for craft beer and supporting local causes like New Hope. Thank you to everyone who came out and made this evening a success.
I hope to see you all again next year. Cheers!
