Blackhorse Brewery | Local Motion IPA
We’re a big fan of collaboration beers, especially ones that benefit a local cause. On deck this evening we have a beer that benefits the Legacy Parks Foundation right here in fabulous Knox-vegas. What’s the Legacy Parks Foundation? The best way to describe it is to say that this group is about preservation and recreation. How so? By ensuring our parks are well taken care of, making sure we’ve got great recreational opportunities in said parks and that that these spaces are there for generations to come. Blackhorse Brewery has stood tall and a portion of proceeds from Local Motion IPA are going to just that – our parks. Further, as a session IPA in a can, this beer certainly pairs well this this cause as it’s an easy beer to take out as you enjoy nature. On to the beer!
This beer pours gold with a thick head that dissipates fairly quickly and lingers along the edges. It is slightly cloudy and gives off immediate citrus, resin and pine. The citrus is strong which gives a nod to the hop bill of Mosaic, Zythos, Citra, and Cascade used in this beer. These flavors carry on into the body with a citrus bomb coating the palate. There is also a slight malt sweetness but it’s certainly very muted in this beer. The body is light to moderate and there is low to moderate bitterness in the aftertaste that I found very enjoyable.
Final snobs: This beer certainly falls in the session IPA category at 4.8% ABV. With 50 IBUS and an awesome hop bill, this beer is a welcome mouthful and just what you need when you go out to play in the parks. While I tend to shy away from session IPAs and opt for their bigger brothers, this beer is awesome – surprisingly so. The gents at Blackhorse Brewery created a great one with this beer! Well done!
Local Motion IPA can be found on draft around town and in cans at both the brewery and your favorite beer store.
Prost!
