Dogfish Head’s- Burton Baton
Anyway, I was looking through the beer fridge for a tasty beverage of the beer type and to my dismay I only had four of various bottles to choose from. Alas, they were ones I had purchased for Rob and I do value his friendship so I figure I will give him another minute to get them. The minute went by really fast so I headed out to McScrooge’s. If you haven’t been there they have an impressive selection of high gravity beer oer dere. I came across this little beauty.
I noticed a quite a few were pouring this into snifters, wine glasses, etc. Here at knoxbeersnobs we drink beer in either the 12 oz bottle or in a frosty glass y’all. The color was burnt orange and hazy with a cream colored head that vanished quickly. I could smell the sweet caramel and a bit of oak. This was soon followed by the 10% abv and piney hops. Upon first taste I was thinking 90 Minute and it does taste close but with the addition of oak which cuts down on the bite as well as a bit of vanilla. Quickly after the alcohol hits your nose an all I taste is hops.
Final snobs: I did enjoy this more than the 90 Min due to the oak cutting the sweetness and bite down.
