Pints for Purpose: Blount Co Habitat for Humanity | August 27th, 5pm

As you all probably know by now, anytime we can tie a cause in with raising a glass of wonderful, tasty, magnificent, hop laden, sweet malty nectar….wait, what were we talking about? Oh, yes…anytime we can raise a glass of beer and benefit a great cause at the same time, we’re in. Pending each of our wife’s separate approval (we have developed a form for Don in such instances), we’re in.

On August 27th from 5-9pm at The Switchback Tavern inside of Little River Trading Company & Cycology Bicycles, Pints for a Purpose will be focused on Blount County Habitat for Humanity. If you’ve never done anything with/for Habitat for Humanity I’m going to tell you right now, this is an incredible charity who’s sole purpose and focus is putting a roof over people’s heads. Simple. The beauty of Habitat is that ANYONE can get involved. If you want to lay your hands on an actual house and help build it, GREAT! It doesn’t matter if you are a master carpenter or if you need a GPS just to find Lowe’s, there is a place for you and they will use you. On the other hand, if you are like my friend Mark Coldren, his toolbox contains two things; a pen and a check book. Habitat can definitely use those folks too.

Pints for a Purpose is a pretty straightforward group as well. 4th Thursday of each month from January through October they gather. The rules are simple.

  • 100% of the proceeds go to each month’s non-profit partner – for August, Habitat for Humanity.
  • Each month has it’s own brewery and outdoor vendor sponsor – Saw Works Brewing Company, Salomon and Outdoor Research.
  • Raffle prizes donated by both sponsors with drawings during the event.
  • Food truck at each event, because you’re going to get hungry.
  • You’ll feel good not just because you had great beer and awesome food, but because you also helped a great cause.

Where?

The Switchback Tavern is inside Little River Trading Company & Cycology Bicycles |2408 E. Lamar Alexander Parkway | Maryville, TN 37804

So come on out on August 27th, enjoy great food from the Jamamerican Jerk Centre food truck, drink some awesome beer from Saw Works Brewing Company which includes a collaborative beer JUST for the event! It’s a one off IPA called Walls Up IPA – gotta come check that out. Saw Works also added a brew day to the raffle prizes – very cool.  Also Salomon and Outdoor Research have stood tall as the vendor sponsors and have added some great gift certificates to be won.

Be sure to make plans to attend! A Facebook event can be found here.

Cheers!
