Reflections on the Tennessee Winter Beer Fest
Howdy beer fans,
As I mentioned in a post many weeks back, this past weekend was the Tennessee Winter Beer Fest – the second annual to be exact. The fest was nothing short of awesome! While I’m a BIG fan of craft beer, it’s the people that make this all worthwhile; you guys came out, definitely rallied around this cause and had a good time to boot – many, many thanks.
The fest was sold out several weeks ago and people were searching for tickets right up to the gate opening and with the brewers bringing some pretty special beers to compete for the BoBy award (Best of Beers) who can blame them!
Several of this snobs highlights included;
- Drunken Spider from Calfkiller Brewing Company
- Smoked Chipotle Bourbon Porter from Studio Brew
- Bourbon Barrel Aged Chocolate Porter from Saw Works Brewing Company
- Stone Cup Stout from Chattanooga Brewing Company
- The Limited from Depot Street Brewing
- Russian Imperial Stout from Smoky Mountain Brewery.
You guys know what this snob loves and you rocked it out. Ultimately Calfkiller took home the coveted BoBy award but I have to say, it was VERY difficult for me to cast my vote this year. A big thanks to our brewers who traveled from near and far to be with us – greatly appreciate your support and participation.
I’m also proud to say that I have been a part of the all-volunteer lead committee that puts on this event to benefit New Hope Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center along with Dr. Todd White, Adam Palmer of Saw Works Brewing Company, Nathan Robinette of The Casual Pint, Mike Talley of The Talley Ho Inn, Steve Fillmore of Miss Lily’s Cafe and Mike Adams of The Market at Washington and High. These guys as well as our top notch volunteers made this an awesome night – a BIG thanks and cheers to you all!
Big thanks to Ratchet for his LIVE blog of the evening with some great pics, be sure to check those out.
While we are waiting for the final bills to come in, it looks as though we’ll hit our budgeted donation amount to New Hope – more to come on that.
Thanks again to everyone for making this night as great as it was – we’re already looking forward to next year.
Cheers!
